Builders who are usually focused on hard hats and heavy construction turned their attention to bowling pins March 27 to help raise more than $17,000 for the Cabell Huntington Hospital Children's Hospital project. The Builders Building the Dream Bowling Tournament, sponsored by Tri-State Building and Construction Trades Council and Neighborgall Construction, brought members of the building and construction trades union affiliates together to take aim at bowling pins to help support the Children's Hospital project. The event at Colonial Lanes in Huntington included more than 100 bowlers.
"We were very excited to co-sponsor this event for the Children's Hospital, which will have such a positive impact on our community and the quality of life for our ailing children and their families," said C.R. Neighborgall IV, President of Neighborgall Construction. "We are pleased with the support of all of our participants and we are proud to help move this project along."
On Friday, Neighborgall and Steven L. Burton, Business Manager, Financial Secretary and Treasurer for the Tri-State Building and Construction Trades Council, presented Glen Washington, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Cabell Huntington Hospital and David Graley, Vice President and COO of the Cabell Huntington Hospital Foundation, with the proceeds from the event.
"Today, we have seen how construction workers and builders who make their living each day wearing hard hats also have a soft place in their hearts for children who need the opportunity to receive the best care we can provide," Washington said. "We thank everyone involved with this wonderful event for bringing such a generous donation for our project."
The Tri-State Building and Construction Trades has more than 25,000 members from 50 building and construction trades union affiliates in West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio. Previously, The Tri-State Building and Construction Trades group had already presented more than $87,000 in donations to the project.
"We want to continue to be a part of the communities in which we live and work," Burton said. "And we want to help those children because we don't want them to have to drive somewhere else. We want to take care of them right here."
