Cabell Huntington Hospital is providing a free stroke screening on Wednesday, May 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the atrium of the Marshall University Medical Center on the hospital campus. No appointment is necessary.
Stroke is the leading cause of serious, long-term adult disability. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, 50 to 70 percent of stroke survivors regain functional independence but 15 to 30 percent are permanently disabled. Learning about stroke risk factors, and what a person's risk for stroke might be, can be vital information.
