Dr. Vincent Battista
Dr. Vincent Battista, a fellowship-trained orthopedic hand surgeon, has joined the Department of Orthopedics of the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and the medical staff of Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Dr. Battista, a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army, recently returned from active duty as chief of surgery with the 10th CSH (Combat Support Hospital) in Tallil, Iraq, where he also performed orthopedic surgeries and duties as a flight surgeon.
Dr. Battista joins Alan Koester, MD, chief of the orthopedic hand section in the department, and Steve Novotny, MD, who are both fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons specializing in hand and upper extremity care.
Dr. Battista earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his hand surgery fellowship training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
The comprehensive orthopedic hand team also includes Dr. Battista's wife, Rene Battista, PA-C. She is a retired U.S. Army officer and a distinguished Gulf War veteran with 20 years of experience as a physician assistant in specialties including orthopedics, family practice and emergency care.
