Premier healthcare alliance recognizes CHH for achieving superior supply expense performance
Last updated: 07/14/2009
Cabell Huntington Hospital has earned Premier's Supply Chain Excellence Award for 2009. Only 26 out of 2,100 eligible hospitals nationwide were chosen for this honor. Premier's Supply Chain Excellence Award is given to the nation's top hospitals achieving superior supply expense performance as measured by Premier's comparative database of operational and supply chain cost information for acute care hospitals. Winners were identified using four industry standard supply expense ratios and a case-mix-index-based peer grouping methodology to ensure that organizations of diverse sizes and complexity were considered equally.
"I'd like to congratulate Jim Coy, his department and all of Management Staff for their efforts to control expenses," said Monte Ward, Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. "This recognition demonstrates what we can accomplish when we work together toward a common goal."
To be eligible, each organization had to submit four quarters of calendar 2008 data to Premier, which used 40 indicators measuring and trending performance in cost and operations to compare supply expense performance to that of similar facilities and identify improvement opportunities.
