On Thursday October 1st, the curtain rises on a new element of fun for the Huntington Mall — The Cabell Huntington Healthy Kids Play Place, located in the Elder-Beerman Dome. Healthy, fun and educational activities will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, with the official ribbon cutting ceremony to begin at 11 a.m.
According to Brent Marsteller, CEO and President of Cabell Huntington Hospital, "Cabell Huntington Hospital is very pleased to be able to provide children across the Tri-State Area with an outlet for recreation and physical activity at The Huntington Mall. Additionally, we hope the Cabell Huntington Healthy Kids Play Place will be a helpful reminder to parents about the importance of proper nutrition, daily exercise, regular checkups and safe behaviors in the healthy growth and development of their children. Cabell Huntington Hospital and University Pediatrics have long been the region's leaders in pediatric care. We see this playground as an extension of that leadership role, particularly as it relates to the promotion of healthy lifestyle choices involving the children of our region."
The ribbon cutting ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m. and include the following:
- Cabell Huntington Healthy Kids Fair
- Cabell Midland High School's "Rhythm in Red" Show Choir
