Ray Ridgeway, Volunteer of the Year

Ray Ridgeway, who is affectionately called "the mayor" of Cabell Huntington Hospital, has been named the 2009 Volunteer of the Year by the Auxiliary of the West Virginia Hospital Association. Ridgeway has volunteered in multiple roles at Cabell Huntington Hospital since he began giving his time in 1996. He most recently held the position of Auxiliary President at the Hospital for 2008-2009 and has been instrumental in fund raising and pledges for both the North Patient Tower and Children's Hospital campaigns.

"Ray has always been a champion for the auxiliary and the hospital to make changes that help patients, family members and volunteers," said Marian Tissenbaum, President of the Cabell Huntington Hospital Auxiliary. "His enthusiasm is well known throughout the hospital and community."

The award was announced at the recent WVHA Annual Meeting a The Greenbrier. He was chosen for the award over volunteers from every other hospital in West Virginia.
