CHH Is Sending Five Children to Asthma Camp
Last updated: 06/04/2007
Cabell Huntington Hospital's Auxiliary is making it possible for five Huntington-area children to attend Camp Catch Your Breath, a residential camp for children with asthma.
The week-long camp, scheduled for Saturday, July 28 through Friday, Aug. 3, takes place at Jackson's Mill in Weston, West Virginia. The camp counselors are respiratory therapists and nurses from participating hospitals, and they offer a fun and educational experience for children who might not otherwise get to go to camp.
Just like other summer camps, children will participate in games, sports, swimming and crafts. There will also be educational sessions in which participants will be able to share their experiences, express their feelings about living with asthma and talk about making decisions about their conditions.
Camp Catch Your Breath is sponsored by the American Lung Association and United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, and is supported by Cabell Huntington Hospital along with three other West Virginia hospitals.
The camp is for children ages 8 to 13 and the cost is $80 per child. There are five scholarships offered by Cabell Huntington Hospital's Auxiliary and Respiratory Therapy Department. Attendance is limited to 70 children and the application deadline is July 13. To apply for one of the scholarships through Cabell Huntington Hospital, call Donna Burgess at (304) 526-4888.
