CHH's Employee Assistance Program and Pastoral Counseling Center Moves to 13th Avenue

The Fairfield Medical Building
Cabell Huntington Hospital's Employee Assistance Program and Pastoral Counseling Center is moving its offices to the third floor of the Fairfield Medical Building, located at 1616 13th Ave. in Huntington. As of Friday, September 19, clients see their counselors at the new location.
"We wanted to relocate for a number of reasons," said Richard Wilson, D.Min., director of the Pastoral Counseling Center. "The main reason is we are now offering an employee assistance program to area businesses and this location is more convenient for people to find."
Wilson also said that employees who take advantage of the counseling service may feel more comfortable using the service in a place that is little farther from where their co-workers are.
"While the topics of their counseling sessions are strictly confidential, some employees feel uncomfortable when people they work with see them entering the counseling center. This location gives them greater anonymity."
The Counseling Center helps adults and children with a variety of issues including marital problems, anger management, conflict resolution, parenting concerns, grief and loss, stress and alcohol or substance abuse. Insurance and self-payment are accepted.
The Cabell Huntington Hospital Employee Assistance Program helps businesses and their employees deal with issues such as suspected substance abuse, anger management, chronic absenteeism, conflict resolution, effective communication, stress management and other services either through a capitated fee structure or hourly fees for services.
Wilson said, "If employers take the time to calculate how much they spend in replacing workers who are under-producing, they are often surprised at how much it actually costs the company to replace someone. An EAP can help retain troubled employees."
