New Physicians Join ECCC Staff

The Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center continues to expand its services with the addition of several new physicians specializing in medical oncology and hematology. With the addition of Aneel Chowdhary, MD, the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center now has four physicians with a wide range of expertise in medical oncology and hematology.
Dr. Chowdhary
Dr. Chowdhary is a 1996 graduate of the Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed his residency training in internal medicine at Caritas Carney Hospital in Boston, MA, and his fellowship training in medical oncology at the Tom Baker Cancer Center at the University of Calgary, Canada.
Dr. Oscar Ballester
Another addition to the Medical & Dental Staff is Oscar Ballester, MD, a medical oncologist/hematologist who has significant experience in myeloma and lymphoma treatments. His medical degree is from the National University of Cordoba, and he completed his residency at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, MI. He completed fellowships at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI; and Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, FL, and he is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, with subspecialty certification in Hematology and Medical Oncology.
Dr. Gabriela Ballester
The hospital has also welcomed Gabriela Ballester, MD, a specialist in benign and malignant hematology and the region's only hematologist who focuses on clotting and bleeding disorders. She attended medical school at Buenos Aires University, Buenos Aires, Argentina and completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at Evita Hospital, Lanus, Buenos Aires, Argentina and the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, GA, and in Hematology at Alvarez Hospital, Buenos Aires, Argentina. She completed fellowships at the National Academy of Medicine, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Fundaleu, Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Louisiana State University-Shreveport, Shreveport, LA. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
