Andra Hardin Receives CHH President's Award

Andra Hardin, RN, director of Cabell Huntington Hospital's Home Health Services, is the first recipient of the hospital's President's Award. The award was created last year to recognize director-level employees who make significant contributions to the hospital's operation and have demonstrated vision and leadership within the organization.
Hardin, who has worked at Cabell Huntington Hospital since 1974, was named coordinator of Home Health in 1987, promoted to director in 2001, and was recently elected president of the West Virginia Council of Home Care Agencies, Inc.
Under her leadership, the department now ranks among the top 10 percent in the nation in Medicare quality measurements. Her track record for successfully managing the hospital's Home Health Services in the face of rigorous regulations is one of the reasons Senior Vice President of Finance Monte Ward nominated Hardin for the President's Award.
"Andra only reported to me for a short period of time after another vice president left, but she made an impression on me," Ward said. "There are some outstanding managers that report to me, but she impressed me so much she got my nomination. I understand how difficult it is for a home health agency to be successful with all of the regulatory requirements they face. She not only knows the rules and regulations well, but she knows the business well, the customers well and the competition well."
