WV Tobacco Cessation Quit Line Services Now Free to All WV Residents
Last updated: 01/16/2008
The WV Tobacco Cessation Quit Line services are free to all West Virginians now through the end of March 2008. Anyone who wishes to quit smoking or chewing spit tobacco but has been unable to quit on their own may call the WV Tobacco Quit Line at 1-877-966-8784.
Persons who contact the Quit Line will be assigned a cessation telephone coach. The coach will ask some questions to determine if the individual is ready to quit using tobacco. If the coach believes that nicotine replacement therapy (patches, prescription medication) is needed for the individual to quit, the person will be advised to see his/her physician or health care provider to obtain an order. The coach will also schedule several follow-up phone calls with the person in order to provide emotional support for assistance.
All West Virginians are encouraged to use the Quit Line services now while the services are free during this special time period. Please call 1-877-966-8784.
