CHH Ultrasound Department earns accreditation
Last updated: 03/06/2008
The American College of Radiology has re-accredited the Ultrasound Department at Cabell Huntington Hospital and recognized the staff with an additional accreditation.
Every three years, radiology departments like Cabell Huntington Hospital's go through a series of tests to receive their accreditation. During this year's process, Cabell Huntington's Radiology Ultrasound Department scored 100 percent, far surpassing the 85 percent needed for accreditation.
The department's nine sonographers were recognized for their work to maintain continuing medical education (CME) hours, being registered through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography and for proper documentation of films, according to Ultrasound Supervisor Michelle Warder.
Also, the department picked up another accreditation, adding recognition in general ultrasound, which includes abdominal areas. The hospital already held accreditations in obstetrics and gynecology.
Warder said the high ratings obtained during the accreditation process reflect the high level of expertise of the staff and sonographers in the Ultrasound Department.
"These accreditations identify our Ultrasound Department as a leader in imaging excellence," said Tim Martin, director of Radiology at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
