Shirley M. Neitch, MD, FACP, was awarded the 2008 Rockefeller Award Friday, May 16, for her work to improve the lives of people who suffer from Alzheimer's Disease.
Dr. Neitch, Chief of Geriatrics at Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and Director of the Hanshaw Geriatric Center and Susan Drake Edwards Alzheimer's Center, received the honor during the annual "Thanks for the Memories Luncheon" held at the Charleston Marriott Town Center.
Alzheimer's Association National CEO and President Harry Johns presented the award to Dr. Neitch to recognize her for her advocacy for people with the disease and their caregivers.
Dr. Neitch is active in community Alzheimer's events, including the Huntington Memory Walk, and she also serves on the oversight committee for the Alzheimer's registry.
