Rev. Vernon McNear, BCC, has joined the Department of Pastoral Care at Cabell Huntington Hospital as associate director of Clinical Pastoral Education.
Rev. McNear earned his master's of Divinity at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan and most recently worked in the Spiritual Care Department of St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Idaho.
"We are fortunate to get someone of Vern's caliber to be the educator of our clinical pastoral education students," said Rev. Dr. David C. Johnson, director of the Pastoral Care and Education Department at Cabell Huntington. "The transformation from parish minister to being a chaplain in the public sector is not an easy one. Vern is responsible for designing a program that will assist in that transformation."
Rev. McNear is ordained by the Reformed Church of America and is certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains. His role at Cabell Huntington includes supervising the pastoral residents, interns and emergency services chaplains.
