The Hoops Family Children’s Hospital at Cabell Huntington Hospital has received a $50,000 donation from the American Electric Power Foundation and the Appalachian Power Company. The donation comes at an important time for the Hoops Family Children’s Hospital, when the project is getting closer to its initial fundraising goal of $12 million.
“Appalachian Power President and CEO Charles Patton has personally visited with us to see the patients we care for and the services our facility provides, and we deeply appreciate his interest in this project and the partnership with AEP and Appalachian Power,” said David Graley, Vice President and COO of the Cabell Huntington Hospital Foundation.
Construction is now underway on a new dedicated entrance to the Hoops Family Children’s Hospital that will offer an inviting, child-friendly atmosphere and limit the exposure of sick children to other hospital patients and visitors.
"The design of this new hospital within a hospital will truly benefit and comfort not only the children, but also the families of these patients," Patton said. "We're proud and honored to support this important project for the citizens of West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky and beyond."
The Hoops Family Children’s Hospital is a member of the Children’s Hospital Association and includes a 36-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 25-bed General Pediatrics Unit and a 10-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
