Cabell Huntington Hospital opened a new rehabilitation facility called the SMART (Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Therapies) Center Monday, March 3 on the hospital's campus.
The SMART Center is staffed with physical therapists and occupational therapists who will use this brand new facility to conveniently offer comprehensive rehabilitation services. With a mission of helping total joint replacement patients and athletes get back into top shape, the SMART Center also provides a convenient location stocked with state-of-the-art treatment options.
Located just off the atrium of the Marshall University Medical Center, the SMART Center is just steps away from the Department of Orthopedics and the Department of Neuroscience at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. The location was selected to accommodate the many patients who require rehabilitation therapies after orthopedic surgery or because of neurological conditions.
Shawn Bastin, director of Rehabilitation Services at Cabell Huntington Hospital, said the new center will allow sports medicine and joint replacement patients to be placed in a convenient and comfortable environment for their rehabilitation.
Cabell Huntington Hospital also offers rehabilitation and state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment options for balance and mobility disorders at the Cabell Huntington Hospital Balance Center located at 1616 13th Avenue.
The SMART Center will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. To reach SMART Center staff, call 304-526-2411.
