Visiting Hours
We understand the important role family and friends have in a patient's recovery and well-being. To protect you and your family there may be times when we need to limit visitation. Please note that visiting hours are subject to change. After-hours visitors must check in at with Security to be registered and given a visitor's pass.
General Visiting Hours
- 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Intensive Care
- Visit for 30 minute intervals at 6 a.m., 9 a.m., noon, 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Burn Intensive Care and Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU)
- 1 to 1:30 p.m.; 5:30 to 6 p.m.; and 7:30 to 9 p.m.
Parents of children admitted to the PICU are welcome to visit 24 hours a day. After 9 p.m., parents must remain on the unit.
Pediatrics
- 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Parents are welcome to visit 24 hours a day. After 9 p.m., parents must remain on the unit.
Labor & Delivery Unit
Open visitation with up to four visitors at a time. Each visitor must have one of the passes issued to the mother-to-be during registration. Children under 14 may visit if they are the brother or sister of the expected baby.
Mother/Baby Unit
- 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fathers are welcome to visit 24 hours a day.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
No more than three visitors at the bedside at a time. Parents are welcome to visit 24 hours a day. After 9 p.m., parents must remain on the unit.
Overnight Visitor Passes
Security will issue one pass for overnight visitation for each patient. Due to space limitations and the need for patients to rest, only one visitor may stay each night on the hospital grounds. Security will check for visitation passes after visiting hours end. Visitors who are in patient rooms and do not have a pass after hours shall be asked to acquire a pass or leave the hospital. If the visitor requests permission to stay with a patient, the visitor should request a pass from a Security officer at the CHH main entrance on the ground floor, the Adult Intensive Care Unit waiting area on the fourth floor or the Emergency Department on the first floor. Visitors are to stay on the unit indicated on their passes. Visitors found in areas of the hospital other than their designated unit will be asked to return to that unit.
Visiting Guidelines
Your visit is important to the recovery of your relative or friend; however, we ask that you follow certain guidelines when visiting patients at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
- Each patient is limited to two visitors at a time
- Visitors should check with the nurse before entering the patient's room
- Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult
- Children who have been exposed to chicken pox within the past seven days or visitors with illnesses are not allowed on the unit
- In most cases, children are limited to a 10-minute visit. Please supervise children at all times
- No smoking is allowed in the hospital; there are designated smoking areas outside. For everyone's comfort, please refrain from smoking near hospital entrances.
- Restrooms are located in or nearby all waiting areas; please do not use the restroom in a patient's room
- Please do not bring food or lounging or sleeping equipment to the waiting areas
- Visitors may call the nurses' station at any time to check on their loved one, but please try to limit calls to one per family. This allows more time for the nurses to care for your loved one.
- All visitors shall comply with the West Virginia Health Code and wear proper attire while in the hospital, e.g., shoes, shirt
- After 8 p.m., visitors are required to stay on the unit indicated on their passes. If you are in another area of the hospital, you will be asked to return to the designated unit. Under no circumstances will visitors be allowed to wander around the hospital

Airport Information
The Tri-state Regional Airport [
] is located about nine miles from the ECCC, near Exit 1 off I-64. Tri-State Airport is the host of two major carriers: US Airways and Delta Connection. These carriers serve the two hub cities of Charlotte and Cincinnati with more than 700 connecting flights to and from 160 additional cities.
ATM
Automatic teller machines are available 24 hours a day near the main entrance on the ground level and outside the cafeteria. The ATMs accept all MAC, CIRRUS and Star network cards and most major credit cards. If you have a problem with your transaction, please call the CHH Credit Union at 304-526-2097 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Beauty Salon
CHH's Beauty Salon is on the fourth floor. Salon hours are 10:30 to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. The salon is open for patients and visitors, and room service is available for bedridden patients. To make an appointment, call ext. 2159.

Bio-Ethics Consultants
Members of the Bio-Ethics Committee help patients, family and friends identify, analyze and resolve ethical issues related to patient care through information-gathering and discussion. Although the consultants do not make decisions for the people involved, they do offer advice, make recommendations and identify supportable options. Patients, family members and professionals remain responsible for their own decisions. There is no charge for ethics services. Bus Services
TTA provides transit services Monday through Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. in the greater Huntington, West Virginia urban area. TTA buses travel from Huntington to Milton and Barboursville. The TTA information telephone number for all calls about regular bus route service is (304) 529-RIDE. The telephone number for all calls about Dial-A-Ride service for the disabled is (304) 529-7700.
TTA bus fares are simple. Each time you board a TTA bus, your basic fare is only 50 cents. Exact change for your bus fare is required. There are two fare zones. If you travel in to or out of the Huntington city limits, there is an additional charge of 25 cents. Customers with a Medicare card ride for one-half the fare. Dial-A-Ride fares are twice the regular fare. Just call (304) 529-RIDE for the exact fare for your bus trip with TTA.

Cafeteria (also see Restaurants)
The cafeteria is on the ground floor off the Cabell Huntington Hospital lobby. It is open daily, and the hours are posted. A patient's family members may purchase guest trays that will be delivered with the patient's tray. To order a tray, call 304-526-3017. More information and cafeteria menus

The chapel is on the first floor off the Cabell Huntington Hospital lobby. Services are offered on special occasions as posted. The chapel remains open during the day so that anyone is welcome to visit and spend a few quiet moments in reflection.
Coffee Bar (Perk Place)
The coffee bar is located on the ground level in the atrium across from the hospital Gift Shop. Coffee, juice and pastries are available Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Correspondence
Mail is delivered daily to inpatient rooms. Stamps may be purchased at the Credit Union on the ground floor near the cafeteria or using the stamp machine in the atrium near the Gift Shop. Outgoing mail may be placed in the mailbox outside the entrance.

Gift Shop
The Gift Shops hours are:
- Monday through Thursday: 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday: Noon to 5 p.m.
The CHH Gift Shop is operated by the Auxiliary. Flowers, magazines, books, cards, snacks, bottled water, jewelry, toys and a variety of gifts are for sale. A selection of Marshall University collectibles and sportswear items are also available. Proceeds from the Gift Shop help fund hospital projects. For more information, call 304-526-2114.

The Ronald McDonald House is located directly behind Cabell Huntington Hospital, on the other side of the Dialysis Center. It is a house where parents and siblings of pediatric patients can stay for a small fee while the child is receiving care at the hospital. Families who live more than 50 miles away from the hospital are eligible to stay there. Referrals to the Ronald McDonald House are made by physicians, nurses and clinical resource coordinators. Parents may contact the Ronald McDonald House directly, but the house manager will verify the need for a room by contacting the hospital. For more information, please call (304) 529-1122.

The Comfort House provides temporary lodging for relatives and supporting friends of seriously ill adult patients and qualified adult patients who live more than 50 miles from Huntington. Patients are referred from several area hospitals, and the house offers lodging for a small fee to relatives and friends who fit the guidelines. It has handicapped-accessible rooms and is located a few miles from the campus of Cabell Huntington Hospital. For more information, call (304) 522-1832.

Medical Records
If you would like to request copies of your medical records, please complete an Authorization To Use/Disclose Health Information. This form can be downloaded or obtained from the Health Information Management Department located on the ground level of Cabell Huntington Hospital This form may also be mailed/faxed to you if it's more convenient; just provide us with a fax number or mailing address.
In Person: To request your records in person, please come to the Health Information Management Department located on the ground level of the hospital. Please bring a picture ID to prove your identity.
By Mail or Fax: To request your records by mail, please download and complete the Authorization To Use/Disclose Health Information. Be sure to have your signature notarized if you are not returning the form in person. You may fax your notarized request to (304) 526-2012. You will be contacted if pre-payment is required. You can buy daily editions of The Herald-Dispatch from the machine near the front entrance. Magazines are for sale in the Gift Shop.

Parking
Free parking for visitors and patients is available in lots next to and behind the hospital. See the parking map. Please do not park in reserved parking areas or in specially designated spots. Be sure to turn off your headlights and lock your doors. If you need an escort to your car, call Security at ext. 2223. Courtesy shuttle service is available on campus from the parking lot to the entrance and from the entrance to the parking lot. For your convenience, you are invited to use our free valet parking service.

Smoking Policy
At Cabell Huntington Hospital, we strive to provide our patients, guests and employees a safe and healthy environment in which to heal, visit and work. Because the United States Surgeon General has deemed secondhand smoke a serious health hazard that can lead to disease and premature death in children and non-smoking adults, smoking and smokeless tobacco use are not permitted in any hospital building. It is permitted in the designated smoking area in the covered parking area near the Emergency Department entrance. Patients who experience difficulty refraining from smoking should consult with their physician, who may be able to recommend substitutes during their stay. Patients who do not comply with the policy will be reminded of the tobacco-free policy by the hospital staff.
Snack Bar
A snack bar, open 24 hours a day, is on the ground level around the corner from the cafeteria across from the elevators near the north side of the hospital. The snack bar has vending machines stocked with snack foods and hot and cold beverages.
Social Work
Social workers are on duty Monday through Friday during regular business hours. To speak to a Social Work staff member, please call (304) 526-2090. After hours, please go through the operator by dialing O.

Telephones
Cell Phones: Because cell phones may interfere with the functioning of some hospital equipment, there are restrictions on using them in parts of the facility. Please check with a staff member to be sure cell phone use is permitted in the area before turning your telephone on.
Public coin and credit card-operated telephones are in the atrium near the Harless Auditorium.
Translation Services
The hospital has access to interpreters for sign language more than 100 languages. Please ask a staff member for assistance or call (304) 526-2090.
