Breast Health Center
Last updated: 05/02/2007
The Cabell Huntington Hospital Breast Health Center is dedicated to improving breast health for all women, including the evaluation and treatment of breast problems such as fibrocystic changes and benign breast diseases. Our leading-edge breast imaging services range from screening mammograms for women with no signs of breast cancer to evaluation of women with abnormal mammograms or problems, such as a lump that might suggest breast cancer. Mammography and breast ultrasound are performed on site. Through education and quality care, our goal is to reduce the anxiety that many women feel when they discover changes or new symptoms in their breasts.
Patients may be evaluated using ultrasound or the Senographe 2000D Full-Field Digital Mammography and ImageChecker Computer-Aided Detection System. One advantage to this state-of-the-art equipment is that, because a lot of information can be seen with a limited number of pictures, fewer patients need to be called back for additional images. The patient may feel less anxious because fewer pictures are required and results are seen more quickly. And the doctor can electronically manipulate images with digital mammograms, and may zoom in, magnify and optimize different parts of breast tissue to get a better view.
Our focus is on health, healing and hope. We offer education on breast self-exams and other women's health and wellness information. Our caring staff is on hand to answer questions and make you feel as comfortable as possible during you mammogram or other procedures.
A breast cancer support group meets monthly in the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center on the main campus. For more information, please call (304) 526-2443.
