Employee Assistance

The Employee Assistance Program was developed for employees who want to solve problems at work or at home. It is managed and staffed by the CHH Pastoral Care and Education Department. Employees can discuss problems at work, loneliness or stress, depression and worry, spiritual conflicts, marital problems, grief and loss, parenting concerns, low self-esteem and alcohol or drug abuse.

What does it cost to talk with a counselor?
If counseling is covered, insurance is accepted, or your counselor may negotiate an affordable plan of payment. No one is refused for financial reasons.
Are pastoral counselors trained to do counseling?
Pastoral counselors are ordained ministers and counselors trained to listen and help people solve problems.
What if I am not religious? Can I still get help?
Yes. Pastoral counselors help anyone with problems regardless of religious views.
What goes on in a counseling session?
A CHH counselor is a good listener who will understand feelings and problems. He or she can help you find solutions for your problems. Sessions are usually 50 minutes. Clients decide how many sessions are necessary. Most people like to come once a week until they feel satisfied with their progress.
Can clients receive prescriptions for medicine?
While we do not prescribe medication in our office, counselors can refer clients to their doctor or suggest someone who can help them.
If I am unsure about whether counseling is appropriate, can I come for just one session?
Yes. The first session can be used as a time for assessment, and to learn what counseling is about.
