Emergency & Trauma

When seconds count, Cabell Huntington Hospital is prepared, with one of the most advanced emergency and trauma centers in the region. The country's first Level II joint trauma center is staffed around the clock with physician specialists, anesthetists and surgeons ready for any emergency. The staff works hard to ensure that patients receive lifesaving medical care quickly and effectively.

Cabell Huntington Hospital is just minutes from I-64 and can be easily reached by ambulance (see Patient Transfer Center.

For patients needing faster emergency transportation, a helicopter from HealthNet Aeromedical Services is available to transport patients to the Emergency Department. Through radio communication with a Medical Command Center on the sixth floor of the hospital, a trauma team is prepared and ready to care for the injured patient. The helipad is right outside the entrance to the Emergency Department, shaving precious minutes off transportation time and getting the patient into the capable hands of the Emergency Department staff as soon as possible.

Our Emergency Department includes 27-beds, three trauma rooms and a pediatric trauma room, and it is verified by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma and designated by the WV State Trauma and Emergency Medical System as a level II Trauma Center. It is staffed by specially trained physicians and nurses who are dedicated to caring for people who require immediate medical assistance.
