Counseling Works

Counseling is an opportunity to gain self-awareness and use life’s difficulties to create growth and change. Talking to a counselor can help you carefully analyze troublesome situations, gain new perspectives and explore options previously not considered.

Learn strategies for coping with or overcoming issues related to: Couple, marital, or family issues, substance abuse/addiction, sexual addiction, intimacy problems, anxiety, depression, workplace/occupational/vocational stress, spiritual issues, histories of childhood abuse or neglect, and various adult traumas including the death of a loved one, domestic violence, sexual assault, job loss, health crises/chronic illness, and combat related trauma.

The Counseling Center has several therapists with advanced training in couple and family counseling. These therapists help family members uncover the heart of what is causing distress in their relationships. More importantly, our counselors systematically lead couples and families out of distressed relationships and into secure bonds.  Many families, couples in particular, express that they have been to multiple counselors before coming to this Center and have never found the kind of hope and renewal they experience after completing a course of family therapy with one of our specifically trained counselors.

Children must deal with the same stressors adults face, such as divorce, illness and death, and counseling encourages them to talk about their concerns and worries. Counselors also work with children whose behaviors are keeping them from succeeding at home or at school. The CHH Counseling Center employs therapists specifically trained to work with child issues, both in the individual child context and in the family therapy setting. In family therapy, children are treated in the context of their most important relationships. This route of intervention tends to have higher outcome rates, and demonstrates greater sustainability of gains in follow-up studies. Family therapy is also provided with teens and adult children.

Every effort is made to schedule appointments at the times you request or the most convenient alternative. Many commercial insurances are accepted.  Self-pay fees are discussed on an individual basis.
