Employee Assistance Program/Student Assistance Program

Under the guidance of our two full-time therapists, Tenikka Phillips, EAP/SAP Coordinator, and Kara Mullins, EA/SA Professional, the Cabell Huntington Hospital Counseling Center offers both the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Student Assistance Program (SAP) for those in our community.

 

What is the difference between the EAP and SAP?

The EAP is a proactive approach to support employees and provide tools to enhance their work environment while the SAP is a proactive approach to support students and provide tools to enhance their academic environment.

Both programs offer the following services:

  • Short-term counseling
  • Referral to other services as needed
  • Consultation
  • Training and outreach
  • Workshops
  • Crisis debriefs
What are the available services and programs offered by the EAP?

We offer the following EAP services:

  • Employee Counseling – Employees can receive short-term intervention and referral services free of charge. This benefit is also available for the employee’s spouse and dependent children under the age of 26.
  • Crisis Debriefing – Departments as well as organizations that have experienced a traumatic event can receive team counseling to help work through grief, anxiety and other emotional effects of a tragic situation.
  • Outreach – Departments as well as organizations can request specific workshops to fit needs and concerns, such as time management, conflict resolution and stress management.
  • Consultation Services – Managers, supervisors and union officials can receive support in navigating employee situations, enhancing the work environment and improving employee performance.
What are the available services and programs offered by the SAP?

We offer the following SAP services:

  • Consultation Services – Academic leadership and educators can receive counseling on supporting students, enhancing academic environment and improving student performance.
  • Student Counseling – Professional students can receive short-term intervention and referral services free of charge. This benefit is also available for the student’s spouse and dependent children under the age of 26.
  • Crisis Debriefing – Upon experiencing a traumatic event, group counseling and support can be provided to help work through grief, anxiety and other emotional effects of a tragic situation.
  • Outreach – Academic leadership can request specific workshops to fit needs and concerns, such as time management and stress management.

  • Employees and managers of organizations/industries that have an EAP contract with us
  • Professional schools that have an SAP contract with us
  • Students and administrators of professional schools that have an SAP contract with us
