Meet the Preceptors

Meagan Ayers, PharmD, BCPS

Dr. Ayers is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing with the Internal Medicine service at CHH. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from West Virginia University in 2014. She completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center, as well as a teaching certificate program through the University of Kentucky. Dr. Ayers became board certified in pharmacotherapy in 2017. Her practice interests include anticoagulation and stroke management.

Amanda Capino, PharmD, BCPPS

Dr. Capino is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing with the Pediatrics service at CHH and serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at the Marshall University School of Pharmacy. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the South Carolina College of Pharmacy in 2014. She completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency from 2014 – 2015 and a PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency from 2015 – 2016 at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy. During her residency training, she completed teaching certificate programs. Upon completion of her residency training, Dr. Capino served as a faculty member at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy with a practice area in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the University of Mississippi Medical Center for seven years. Dr. Capino is also involved in a number of national pharmacy organizations including the Pediatric Pharmacy Association and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. Dr. Capino is a board-certified pediatric pharmacy specialist. Her practice interests include pediatrics, neonatology, and pediatric critical care.

Derek Evans, PharmD

Dr. Evans is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing with the Infectious Disease service and Antimicrobial Stewardship at CHH. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from West Virginia University in 2011. He completed his Pharmacy Residency training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Evans is involved in precepting students and residents and serves as a member of the Infection Control and Surgical Safety committees. His practice interests include antimicrobial resistance and the pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics of antimicrobials and the associated impact on resistance and outcomes.

Allison Fisher, PharmD, BCCCP

Dr. Fisher is the Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor and PGY1 Residency Program Director at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from West Virginia University in 2015 and completed her PGY1 pharmacy residency at Cabell Huntington Hospital in 2016. She has a teaching certificate through Marshall University School of Pharmacy and became a board-certified critical care pharmacist in 2019. Dr. Fisher was voted the 2020 Pharmacist of the Year and the 2020 – 2021 Preceptor of the Year at her prior practice location, St. Claire HealthCare, and the 2023 – 2024 Resident Wellness Champion at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Joe Flowers, PharmD

Dr. Flowers is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing in the Transitions of Care service and also works as an Inpatient Staff Pharmacist at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Appalachian College of Pharmacy in 2013. His practice interests include anticoagulation, stroke management, medication reconciliation, discharge counseling, and medication therapy management. Dr. Flowers has experience in retail, inpatient, and clinical aspects of pharmacy practice. Dr. Flowers is a certified BLS instructor and is also certified in ACLS and PALS.

Stephanie Justice, PharmD, BCPS

Dr. Justice is the Director of Pharmacy at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in 2007. She completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency and a PGY-2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Following completion of her residency training, Dr. Justice worked as an Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for six years at the following institutions: the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, UK HealthCare in Lexington, Kentucky and the Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia. In December 2015, she started her journey at St. Claire HealthCare as the Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator and then transitioned into the role of the Director of Pharmacy. In addition to her administrative and clinical practice responsibilities, Dr. Justice has been actively involved in the education of pharmacy students and residents throughout her career. She served as the PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency program director while at UK HealthCare and as the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program director at St. Claire HealthCare. She has research and therapeutic publications and has presented at state and national meetings.

Mollie Kilgallin, PharmD

Dr. Kilgallin is a clinical pharmacist practicing with the Oncology service at CHH and the ECI. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in 2020. She then completed her PGY1 pharmacy residency at St. Claire Regional Medical Center and a teaching certificate through University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in 2021. Her practice interests include oncology, hematology, palliative care and maternal health.

Chadrick Lowther, MS, PharmD

Dr. Lowther is the Medication Safety Officer at CHH. He received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from West Virginia University (WVU) School of Pharmacy and completed a two-year specialty residency in pharmacotherapy at Cleveland Clinic. He has practiced in acute care/critical care for over 15 years at the following institution’s main campuses: Cleveland Clinic, Charleston Area Medical Center, Marietta Memorial Health System, and Cabell Huntington Hospital. Dr. Lowther was also active in pharmacy administration as the Associate Director of Transitions of Care at UK Healthcare before obtaining a Medication Safety Certificate from ASHP/ISMP and taking the Medication Safety specialist position at CHH. Chadrick also holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from WVU and served as the director of a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation center in Nashville, Tennessee. Chadrick is a Cardiovascular Team Member in the American College of Cardiology with practice interests including critical care, cardiology, and medication safety. Dr. Lowther has been an adjunct faculty member with didactic teaching responsibilities in both West Virginia and Kentucky and has been active with the education of medical and pharmacy residents/students at all stages of his career. Dr. Lowther has been instrumental at advancing pharmacy services at the aforementioned institutions; some advances include, but are not limited to, developing pharmacy support of a newly established open heart surgery program at a community hospital to evolving a large university-based teaching hospital’s Meds-to-Beds program into a high-performing service.

Amber Murphy, PharmD, BCCCP

Dr. Murphy is a staff pharmacist at CHH. She received her PharmD from Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1-PGY2 Critical Care residency at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in NC, with presentation of practice-based research in both sepsis and ischemic stroke on national platforms. She has 8 years of staff pharmacy experience and 3 years of practice experience as an emergency department specialist at CHH and University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Her practice interests include toxicology, neurology, and cardiology.

Jennifer Sparks, PharmD, BCPS, BCPID

Dr. Sparks is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing with the Internal Medicine service at CHH and serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at MUSOP. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Charleston in 2011 and a teaching certificate program through Marshall University School of Pharmacy. Dr. Sparks is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist and a board-certified infectious disease pharmacist with practice interests including infectious diseases/antimicrobial stewardship, medication safety, and opioid dependence. She is also certified in ACLS and PALS.

Timothy Taylor, PharmD, BCPS

Dr. Taylor is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing with the Hospitalist service and works as an Inpatient Staff Pharmacist at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree with an area of emphasis in Advanced Clinical Practice from West Virginia University in 2015. His past career experiences include being the Director of Pharmacy of a long term acute care hospital. Dr. Taylor became board certified in pharmacotherapy in 2019.
