Marshall Health Network Lab in Putnam County Awarded Reaccreditation

Marshall Health Network’s laboratory located at Marshall Health-Teays Valley in Scott Depot has received reaccreditation from Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), the regulatory body that ensures the quality and accuracy of clinical laboratory testing.
“This outstanding result speaks volumes about the dedication, expertise and attention to detail our laboratory team brings to its work every day,” said Matthew Brooks, MLS (ASCP)CM, director of clinical laboratory services for Marshall Health Network. “The Marshall-Health Teays Valley laboratory plays a key role in providing highly reliable health care to the community.”
The CLIA inspection assessed more than 700 regulatory standards across the entire clinical laboratory department. Reaccreditation underscores Marshall Health Network’s ongoing commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety and regulatory compliance.
Preparation for the inspection was a collaborative effort, with key support from Krista Denning, M.D., medical director of the Marshall Health-Teays Valley lab and chair of the department of pathology at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Traci Brown, MLS (ASCP), lab manager at Cabell Huntington Hospital and Jennifer Wilson, MLS (ASCP), lab supervisor at Marshall Health – Teays Valley.
“We are proud to offer the convenience of our laboratory services to the Teays Valley community,” Wilson said. “Our patients are like family, and we are grateful for every opportunity to care for them.”
Marshall Health Network’s system of laboratories have state-of-the-art equipment and experienced and certified staff including pathologists, dermatopathologists, medical technologists, cytotechnologists and histotechnicians. They complete testing to aid in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease in the areas of hematology, flow cytometry, chemistry, microbiology, cytology, histology and virology for outpatients and inpatients, as well as other area hospitals and physician’s offices.
